Oregon National Guard (Klamath Falls) train to fight wildfires Oregon's National Guard trained to fight wildfires
During the last week of July, over 300 members of the Oregon Army and Air National Guard learned to fight a different kind of enemy -- wildfire. Ordered by Oregon Governor Ted Kulongoski, Guard members assembled in Astoria, Klamath Falls and Pendleton for an intense four-day firefighter training course. They will provide crucial back-up for other firefighting forces as Oregon enters the peak of our wildfire season, available on short notice to be mobilized by the Governor, if needed.
